Bill Gates spends half billion on bug fighting

CURRENT software King of the World Sir William Gates III has written a half a billion dollar cheque to fight bugs.

Instead of finding them in Windows XP or Vista, Gates hopes to kill off the three diseases HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria.

The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation which is dedicated to spending the huge wodges of cash that Bill made running his little outfit called Microsoft has said it will donate $500-million over five years to the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria.

Gates said that the Global Fund was one of the most important health initiatives in the world today and the cash will go towards providing life saving antiretroviral drugs to people infected with HIV/AIDS.

The contribution is in addition to a previous gift of $150-million that Gates gave to the Global Fund. Gates has also said that he is ploughing $287-million into AIDS vaccine research.
