WHAT'S THIS sudden obsession with watches amongst handset vendors?

First we have the M300 watch phone from SMS Developments and now Sony Ericsson launches the MBW-100 Bluetooth watch. The MBW-100 isn't a phone though - it simply shows you who's calling the phone in your pocket and controls the music player.

This watch was designed in partnership with watch maker, Fossil. Ther OLED display beneath the watch face displays the number when there is an incoming call. If you don't want to speak to him/her you can simply press a key on the watch to reject the call.

It's other major use is control the music player inside Sony Ericsson's mobile phones including its Walkman handsets. The list includes the Sony Ericsson K610, K610i, K618, K790, K800, V630, W710, W850, Z610, Z710.

So you don't look too geeky, the watch is analogue made out of stainless steel with a silver facia.. Available worldwide in Q4 of 2006. it will have a recommended retail price of around EUR 300/£200/$380. µ
