Lara Croft gets steamed

Not CeBIT 007 Eidos joins Steam

SLOWLY, BUT CERTAINLY, Gabe and Doug from Valve have created the de facto most attractive on-line distribution system - which cannot be said for the colour of Steam's UI. That's now bringing independent and corporate publishers under one umbrella.

Eidos decided to give it a go by launching a massive number of games, which will surpass the total number of games currently available on Steam. The company will use Steam to distribute both new and old titles, including oldies such as Tomb Raider, Commandos and Hitman series, Battlestations: Midway, Just Cause... and new titles as Tomb Raider: Anniversary, Championship Manager 2007 and many others.

It seems to us that Eidos is only the first major publisher to sign with Steam. EA is currently doing its own thing, while it is only a matter of time when will companies like Activision, Midway, Codemasters and others - jump either on the steamboat, or do their own thing. µ
