VOODOO PC's boss, Rahul Sood, has written a very informative post on his blog. He gives credit where it is due for they allowed Anand to reconfigure the AMD machine and even then Intel still had a 20% lead. Read the last paragraph to see what proves to be the underlying logic behind all this - strong competition breeds excellent performance.

Neoseeker tests the ThermalTake ToughPower 550w power supply unit which is SLI, Corssfire and Dual core compatible. Comes complete with the Mirror Effect Housing, the sleeved wires which improved in-case air flow, as well as that Fan monitor connector and some more tweaks. Comes very close to Neoseeker's own favorite, the Antec TruePower PSU.

Another power supply unit is tested at MVKtech in the form of the Speeze Rocketeer 600w model. Comes with a variable speed fan control, a thermo reactive cooling system - changes colour with temperature. The 120mm blue ball bearing LED and short circuit protection are not bad at all. Non SLI certified though even if it is compatible. The cables are sleeved and right priced.

PCW paper edition of April 2005 has reviewed the Fujitsu Siemens Scaleo E media centre PC, pre VIIV era. It is bulky and big - just like that old VCR. It is powerful enough though with a Pentium 4 630, 1GB memory, integrated graphics and a dual Digital/Analogye TV Tuner. The 250GB hard disk is not out of place and as are the wireless keyboard with built-in trackball - now where is that mousepads. Heh and the Windows Media Center OS is definitely welcomed.

HKEPC tests the Geforce 7900GTX/GT and the 7600GT bundles. They are hugely populated cards - almost a billion transistors amongst those three. They are all full sized - except the 7600GT - obviously SLI compatible. There are some nice comparison table and some benchmarks as well. The cards are compared to the 7800GTX and a HIS Trio of ATI cards. A draw in most case. Plus the 7900GTX overclocks very nicely. Watch out the 1.83GHz memory overclock. HKEPC also has photos and benchmarks of the 7900GX2 Quad SLI from Foxconn. It runs on the nForce 590 SLI and with a total of 2GB memory, the rig can run 3DMark 05 at 2560x1600 pixels at 32AA. The two cards are pretty long and will definitely fit only in an extended ATX case. The rig used was a socket AM2 based Athlon 64 FX60 with Corsair DDR2-800 memory. Absolutely stunning stuff. µ
