Microsoft's Paul Allen slated to buy football club

Sleeping giant set to awake

THE SOUTHERN DAILY ECHO reports that very very rich man Paul Allen, the co-founder of the Vole, may make a bid to buy Southampton football club, nicknamed the Saints.

The newspaper said Allen owns American rugby club Seattle Seahawks and US Rounders Netball outfit the Portland Trail Blazers.

The Echo quotes a source close to Allen describing UK "soccer" as having value as a long term investment.

"Southampton," the source continued, "is a sleeping giant."
