LG LCD screens freeze

Tellies hate CSI
Tue Mar 20 2007, 07:41
THE MAKER of LCD screens LG is apparently flummoxed over a problem which causes screens to freeze when they receive digital content.

The problem has only been reported in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Perth and regional centres in New South Wales and Victoria when punters try to watch digital programs on Nine Network. The most crashes were caused when viewers tried to watch CSI, which probably means that the tellies do not want to watch American cop shows. Only the 32LC2D, 37LC2D, 42LC2D, 42LC2DR, 42PC1DV, 42PC1DG, 50PC1D, 50PC3D, 50PB2DR and 60PC1D are affected.

LG's marketing manager, Darren Goble, told the Sydney Morning Herald that these could be unrelated issues caused by a number of factors outside of LG's control including "reception, locality and external factors".

Another LG spokeswoman claimed that other manufacturers have also been affected but the SMH couldn't find any who had such problems.

Yesterday, LG claimed that the glitch was software related, with either the digital transmission stream, or the decoding of that stream affecting the television's operation." Currently LG's helpdesk is offering punters the sage advice of “turn it on and turn it off again”.
