Los Angeles adopts Chinese Cyber café laws

Problems with young whipper snappers

LOS ANGELES politicians are convinced that cyber cafes are responsible for truancy and youth violence and are adopting laws to restrict access.

While many people think that most of LA's crime problems could be gang related, Los Angeles City Council approved an ordinance restricting the hours during which minors can visit Internet cafes and required the shops to install video cameras for security.

Minors under age 18 would not be permitted in the cafes on school days between 8:30 am and 1:30pm or after 10pm, and patrons would be required to provide identification on request.

According to Reuters the law is the result of a single incident in which a brawl broke out between rival groups who had been playing the game "Counterstrike".

We are sure the move will get the support of the Chinese authorities which implemented similar moves to curb youth decadence. µ
