AMD joins "mile high" chip club

CHIP FIRM Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) said it has opened its chip development centre in Fort Collins, Colorado.

As we've reported before, it has also nabbed a heap of designers from Intel, which ran the former HP development centre in the same town.

Fort Collins has an elevation of 5,000 feet plus, which is presumably why AMD decided to call it the "Mile High Design Center".

And not because of any commingling of AMD and ex-HP staff in an Airbus overhead. We suppose. µ
