Open source messaging released

FUJITSU, Hitachi, and NEC have released their jointly developed messaging software as open source.

The software, which can be downloaded here, uses the Web Services Reliability standard.

Armed with the catchy title, RM4GS (Reliable Messaging for Grid Services), it apparantly eliminates the need for each individual application to guarantee transmission reliability.

Fujitsu, Hitachi and NEC issued a draft of the WS-Reliability specification last year, and have since worked with OASIS, the standards organisation, to have it designated as an industry standard.

The cunning plan is that by releasing the software as open source it will fuel the adoption of the standard. µ
