IT'S CALLED Hofer here in Austria, but it's all part of one of Europe's largest grocery store chains, Aldi. This chain sells computers and we've previously written about certain "Medion" deals where stores offered very good price for certain computers. The fight was always between Intel or AMD, and Nvidia or ATI.

This time, Hofer is offering a Gericom 15.4-inch notebook computer with Sempron 3100+ CPU, 1024MB of memory and a 100MB hard drive, 8X Dual layer burner three in one card reader and wireless LAN. The machine is powered with ATI Radeon Xpress 200 M chipset that will offer you X300 like graphic with the ability to share up to 128MB of graphics memory and TV out and dual display support. This integrated graphics wont be great for gaming but it will indeed be faster and more compatible than Intel's 950 GMA.

These machines will go on sale Monday morning, 7th of November and we are sure that people will grab them quickly as they cost only €899 including VAT.

It's a nice win for both AMD and ATI as both companies are starting to pick up against competitors in the notebook market. It looks like ATI mobile chipsets are gaining more supporters especially combined with AMD CPUs.

The full specification is here in PDF format. ยต
