A HEALTH REPORT out of Canada warns that people who use computers and their brains, instead of doing something more healthy like rock climbing or cleaning out the inside of nuclear power plants, could put on a bit of weight.

The study, compiled by boffins at Laval University in the Canadian province of Quebec says that it has nothing to do with the fact that computer bods don't tend to move much other than to collect their pizzas from the delivery bloke at the door.

Angelo Tremblay, a professor of kinesiology said that although working at a PC for three-quarters of an hour only burns three calories of energy, all those tested wanted to eat an extra 220 calories of food afterwards. If they slept for the same length of time they didn't feel that peckish.

His theory is that working at a computer increases glucose instability which leads to obesity. Damn, now I am hungry.
