Linux Creative users suffer because of Vista

Singaporeans cite Vista trouble for constant delays
Thursday, 17 May 2007, 15:21
OUR FRIENDS FROM Phoronix came back to us and told us that they finally managed to dig up some facts from Creative's mine and discovered that the company is throwing sand in the face of Linux users.

Creative X-Fi sound card and Linux will not be best of friends thanks to all the problems that Singaporeans came about while developing drivers for Windows Vista.

Since Microsoft made a major mess for a ton of hardware companies, most notably Nvidia and Creative, this long-delayed operating system is now the cause of lacking support for alternative operating systems, such as Linux.

Given the spectre of problems that Creative faces in Vista driver arena, it is now obvious that Linux drivers for X-Fi cards (with surround EAX support) will not see the light of day before the end of the year.

A complete article about the situation can be found using our complementary L'INQ. Quite a mess. ยต
