INTEL IS applying the thumbscrews to AMD not only on desktop chip prices but on server prices too.

Existing UP prices will be cut on the 22nd of April and then cut again in the third quarter - the date is yet to be specified. In Q3 Intel will introduce the 2.66GHz, 1066MHz system bus, 8MB cache X3230 as well as 1333MHz bus dual cores SKUs in the same period.

The lineup for the cuts looks spookily like the below in familiar Intel price cascade fashion.

Intel is eager to introduce the Clovertown in Q3 2007 and it will be called by the enigmatic name the X5365 and be a 3GHz quad core. Come July we will see reductions on Intel's DP line and the X5365 will cost over $1,100.
