THE EUROPEAN UNION is following the US Department of Justice's lead and investigating whether major DRAM manufacturers colluded in a price fixing cartel.

According to a report on news.com, Micron confirmed it is the subject of the EU investigation which began last April, while other companies such as Samsung are also being investigated.

The inquiry will probe whether the major memory manufacturers - the so-called Dramurai - fixed prices of memory chips towards the end of 2001.

The DoJ has investigated alleged cartel like behaviour for over a year, and may impose swingeing fines on the Dramurai. µ
