SONY ANNOUNCED Tuesday that it's going to add Skype voice telephony and instant messaging to the handheld Playstation Portable in Japan later this month.

The company said it will start selling microphones for the PSP2000 in Japan on March 19. Microphones for the PSP2000 that have been available previously in Japan reportedly didn't meet Skype specifications, but Sony says it's sorted now.

Skype services have been available with Sony's Playstation Portable in Europe and the US since January. For once Japan got some cool new technology last. µ
