New blood spilt in Hermit's Cave

The Roundel...
Sun Dec 08 2002, 14:38
WE'VE HAD QUITE a raft of new posters recently, bringing some much needed new blood into the Cave. Not that we're vampires or anything - don't want to scare y'all off! Anyway, it's good to see. Keep it up.

Time wasters:
SKAFFMAN, BASIL, FLASHMAN, FRNHT451, JIRO, SPINOLA, BO_NANZA, TIGGER, REDBARON, DSMITHINQ
Basil proving here that when he said he was really busy at work, he was a lying toad.

New posters:
OBELIX, SLARV, SUDHIRN, FUZTEC25, JAZ, PMIOT, MARTIN, CASIOWATCH, KEITHW, OO

Quote of the week
Muschihund : "No Officer, I wasn't speeding, I was merely overclocking...."

Word Association (384 posts)
I've got this thread on ignore, so I've got no idea what was going on this week.

Joke of the Weak (35 posts)
This seemed to be mainly silly song lyrics, including the one about school dinners. You remember that one? We used to sing it while eating "Chinese Concrete" and green custard. Yum! Money back on beer bottles was mentioned too. Apparently you get 10 cents back on a bottle in the States. Weird - we haven't done that in good old Blighty for years as far as I can remember. Probably get lots of people correcting me now...

Quiz of the day (30 posts)
We seem to get plenty of these quiz things in the Cave. Why do people want to know if they are a woolly-minded liberal or not? Weird. Anyway, it soon dissolved into talk of Lord Of The Rings. I read it when I was about ten and haven't seen it since.
Also see Where's the QOTD thread?

What did you have for lunch today? (89 posts)
Basil's been doing strange things with squishy bananas again. It's best not to ask. A surprisingly entertaining thread considering its title. Hmmm...just had to look up whether I needed an apostrophe in "its" there - I'm slipping. Much talk of garlic, mushy peas and bagels. Not at the same time, obviously.

More News just in... (114 posts)
The Cave's response to what goes on in the Real World. Not that we have any idea what does happen out there on account of lollygagging in the Cave all day.

Yule OOFG (28 posts)
We still haven't sorted out the December pissup formal and dignified meeting of the Inquirer Out Of Focus Group. No doubt SPINOLA will suggest some dodgy pub in Soho in due course.

goat ww2 mod (53 posts)
Some of us have the unhealthy habit of playing Ghost Recon online every now and again. This thread probably isn't of any interest to the vast majority of readers, but it's worth checking out the clan logo that Dinq did. Probably worth looking at Goats in glass houses too if you're into this sort of thing.

Urgent cleaning tips needed.. (37 posts)
Oops. BARRYMUNG had a slight accident and was sick over the sofa and a remote control. We came up with loads of useful suggestions so he could clean it before his missus saw it. Okay okay, we mercilessly took the mickey out of him too.

OpenOffice review (43 posts)
We had a bit of a chat about the review of OpenOffice.org on the Inq. We seem to have stayed more-or-less on topic too, which is unusual.

Help! I have a Mouse (65 posts)
No, not the sort you plug into a computer; SCATA has a real live rodent running around his house. Various discussions about humane traps, tail chopper-offers and cats ensued and the mouse scarpered before he could put any of our evil plans into action. The mouse must have been logged onto the forum. Hmm...that TIGGER does a lot of squeaking - maybe it's him?

Casino (85 posts)
PMIOT went to a casino for the first time, and lost a load of money playing blackjack. Everyone acted unsurprised at this result, but there was some helpful advice. Like "don't gamble"

Suggested guideline (36 posts)
Frnht reckoned that after a point had been argued for more than 10 posts everyone should switch sides. So we did!

Happy Christmas (41 posts)
SCATA has been listening to Christmas tunes to get into the festive spirit. Personally I reckon that a bottle of Talisker is the ideal spirit for any time of year - bah humbug. There was something about walking around in women's underwear that I didn't quite grasp. Probably for the best.

Right, that's it for last week. Come and join in - you'll make more sense than we do I promise you. This summary was brought to you by copious quantities of tea, as I would probably get stared at if I took the laptop down to the pub... Bit of a rural area here, but at least I can get broadband unlike the good Doctor Spinola :-)

Hermit's Quotable Quotes
"Kat usually go poop where ever you're going to kneel in you garden or lawn. Just enough dirt or leaves over it so that you miss seeing it. They also like little ol ladies rose gardens, nasty old mens daisies and behind the couch of everyone. Basically, Kats poop where they damned well feel like it.

Authorities in several countries raided Megaupload recently, shut down all of its services, seized hundreds of servers and arrested several of its executives on criminal charges.

Do you think the move was justified?
