G80 lends Nvidia an arrogant swagger - again

Ruler of the roost

NVIDIA partners are once again concerned about the big Nvidia. Partners are happy as they are selling all the G80s that they can get, but they are not happy about Nvidia's attitude.

G80 is the hottest graphic high-end cookie we'll see before Yule.

The only problem is that G80 made Nvidia arrogant - again. Nvidia is selling more to its pet partners and upsetting the others who are closer to a red team and destroying their sales numbers. Nvidia is the boss and you have to beg them to get enough chips.

This happened before and led Nvidia to NV30 fiasco. We know that Nvidia is not resting on its laurels, it is working hard on a faster version of G80 scheduled for spring. Nvidia wants to beat ATI's R600 with a faster version of G80 and to continue the DirectX 10 leader trend.

There is just one problem, Nvidia doesn't have a Vista driver that works with DirectX 10, at least it didn't give it to reviewers or members of the public yet. Well, the driver will come sooner or later but the arrogance is always a bad thing. That which flies high has further fall. So beware Nvidia, keep your eyes open. It has the best chip on the market now but no one can guarantee that it will stay that way for good.

If we think about it Nvidia hasn't stopped being arrogant ever since it launched its very successful SLI. µ
