GT from ATI is a bargain

Hardware Roundup May ye wibble

ONE GT follows the other one as ATI releases stealthily the X800GT. Bjorn3D has reviewed a Powercolor graphic card based on this chip. The card do perform nicely but that's nothing when compared to its overclocked version. B3D pushed it to 551MHz/504MHz, resulting in a 15% increase in 3Dmark 05. The X800GT sets the benchmark for its category and even competes with much more expensive cards both from ATI and Nvidia.

Chilean website Overclockers.cl checks three "great" heatsinks from Thermalright. The XP90, the XP-90c and the XP120 are only heatsinks so you'll have to get the fans separately. Overclockers guide you through the installation process with photos and description. The XP90c though beats its elder brothers to win the best product award.

Trustedreviews checks the Razer Diamondback Plasma gaming mouse. This weapon of individual destructions features a 1600dpi optical sensor as well as a very cool blue light illuminating the scroll wheel. This is a right/left handed mouse which is an excellent thing in itself. It's not that expensive and even comes with its carrying pouch for you to show off at LAN parties. Might be too narrow for some so, it will be a good idea to try before you buy.

Tomshardware joins the group of reviewers which are warning SIS, VIA and Nvidia of the forthcoming competition from ULi in the form of its M1695 chipset. The motherboard supports both AGP and PCI express natively and even if we still have to test manufacturers' motherboard, the reference motherboard supplied to tomshardware impressed Patrick Schmid, the reviewer. From Servers to Desktops, the M1695 has to execute well to become the new AMD darling.

What kind of performance would two Geforce 6800 put together in SLI mode? Xbitlabs has the answer as it tests two MSI NX6800-TD128E cards. First, they overclocked the card to 460MHz from the original 325MHz, and upped the memory to 650MHz. As it is the case with Xbitlabs, loads of tests and benchmarks and some good surprixes as well. But does it make that much sense now that the 7800GT and the X800GT are here and both offer astounding value for money.

Once more, the ECS KN1 Extreme nForce 4 ultra motherboard is being tested. This time from PC Perspective. Ten USB2.0 ports, six SATA II Raidable connections, twin Firewire ports, three ATA 133 channels, SPDIF output, Dual LAN controllers make this "budget" motherboard very special indeed. No chance though, if you want to grab an overclocker's champion. As we said last time, reviewers will be eagerly waiting for a version 2 of that board, as they did some years ago with the K7S5A. µ

Authorities in several countries raided Megaupload recently, shut down all of its services, seized hundreds of servers and arrested several of its executives on criminal charges.

Do you think the move was justified?
