THE OWNERS of Digg.com are hitting sites which have a similar name.

Diggdot.us which has been around for a year has been forced to change its name after getting a letter from the legal eagles at Digg.com.

The site's owner, 'marshman', put Diggdot.us together because he was hitting Digg, del.icio.us and slashdot.org many times a day and was tired of seeing duplicate stories.

According to his bog, the code Marshman penned was pretty basic. All it did was remove duplicate stories which enabled Marshman and his punters to see the wood from the trees.

He put the site up on frozenbear.com, and the next day it showed up on digg.com and the top of del.icio.us/popular.

, After a year, digg's lawyers have written Diggdot.us with a cease and desist along with similar sites such as diggcard.com, digggames.com and digg2phone.com.

All have shut down. µ
