Gabriel launches smart entertainment site

I know what I like (in your wardrobe)

PETER GABRIEL, the talented one out of Genesis and all-round multi-media good egg, has launched a private beta of The Filter, "a personalised content system that aggregates entertainment and information and connects users to content reflecting their tastes or moods".

The Website will provide a platform for new and unsigned acts as well as established artists.

Gabriel reckons that the new $8.5 million venture's ability to intelligently sort the musical wheat from the video chaff will be a winner in a crowded market. So expect more Biko and a lot less Mike and the Mechanics.

"We believe one of the many joys of the Internet would be freedom of choice, but many of us are now drowning in an ocean of options. An intelligent filter can remove the burden and boredom of choice and get us what we want and need with plenty of exploration and discovery. Once it knows you, your tastes and your moods, it can discover treasure for you every time" says Gabriel.

The Filter uses scary sounding maths to filter out irrelevant content and filter in content that reflects an individual’s tastes and moods across entertainment media, including music, film, web video, entertainment news and, in time, TV.

The site also has a strong element of social notworking that
allows users to share and recommend newly-discovered content.

And talking of not working, the management has just reminded me to point out that Genesis sticksperson and professional chirpy cockerney irritant Phil Collins still owes Andrew Thomas a pint. µ
