Problems hit Debian world

Matthew Garrett quits
Mon Sep 04 2006, 08:56
ONE OF the open sauce project Debian's significant champions, Matthew Garrett has quit over the way things are being run.

Writing in his bog, Garrett moans about how rude the Debian outfit is and how slow it is at making decisions.

He compares Debian unfavorably to Ubuntu which is increasingly attracting more Debian developers.

Garrett was quite important in the Debian circles and was tipped as project leader last year. One of the reasons that Garrett left, was that he got miffed at the way the outfit tried to resolve technical problems with 'Free for all' discussions. He said he much prefers Ubuntu's more formal structure and Ubuntu's code of conduct.
