The quicker a phone's answered in sales, the slower it's answered in customer services - Brownridge's Law
According to a Which? survey, if you wait at home for a Dell delivery it could take six hours and will probably have to take a day's holiday for the experience.
The survey said that computer goods took longer to arrive than any other type of delivery, followed by home electricals and furniture.
Apparently Dell was the worst at keeping its customers waiting, leagues ahead of Argos which was the next slowest at a comparatively speedy four and a half hours.
Which? says that despite the fact that people with the disposable incomes to buy expensive computer products work for a living, most companies insist that deliveries are done between 9am and 4pm during the week. Few deliveries are made outside the hours of 8am to 5pm.
The survey was based on 2,007 phone interviews among the general public in March 2006. µ
