Powerchip, Elpida team up on DRAM

Massive fabrication engine in Old Taiwan
Thu Dec 07 2006, 08:44
ELPIDA AND POWERCHIP created a joint venture in Taiwan to create four fabs that will eventually churn out 240,000 12-inch silicon wafers a month.

The fabs will be built in Taichung Houli Science Park, but details of financing were not revealed.

The first fab will churn out 60,000 12-inch wafers and the clean room for that is already being installed, with mass production using 70 nanometre process technology starting in the third quarter of 2007. µ
