Britain's "only topless beach" doesn't exist

Got no bottom either
Thursday, 27 September 2007, 18:50

PERVY GEEKS are being lured to a fake Cornwall beach by an Internet hoax.

A website has been built for Porthemmet beach boasting it is the largest in the county and the only one in Britain “to allow topless sunbathing.

The beach does not exist so an awful lot of Googlers who type the phrase " topless beach" and "Cornwall" are going to be disappointed.

When the Currant Bun ran an expose the site was closed down. It's back up now though.

Anyone who has tried sunbathing in Blighty would suspect that it is a hoax and, besides, the word 'emmet' is a slang for tourist in Cornwall. Anyone knows that.

The site points out "local landmarks" such as Emmet’s Head, Emmet’s Stump and Emmet’s Reef.

The website also instructs tourists not to listen to locals who do not know where the beach is, saying it is a private joke amongst locals not to tell, um, emmets.

Wikipedia has the beach mentioned so expect it to appear on EU maps soon. µ

Topless bathing

lots of beaches in Britain allow topless sunbathing. Like Brighton, for example. It's not a problem. There's even a nudist beach here. Get with the times!
