Wooden Commodore 64 carved

A BLOKE who runs an anti-Nigerian scam site says that he has managed to turn the tables on one of them.

The geezer, who operates under the handle Shiver Metimbers, managed to convince a scammer to provide him with a life-sized wooden carving of a Commodore 64 computer keyboard.

Shiver Metimbers runs a website called 419eater.com, his recent successful scam involved pretending to be the director of the Derek Trotter Fine Arts company.

He replied to numerous Niverian scam emails with a standard letter apologising that he was too busy to accept their business proposition at this time. But he asked if they knew of any local artists he could invest with.

After managing to snare one scammer he promised huge wodges of cash if a series of commissioned wooden carvings from a local artist arrived on his doorstep.

Sure enough the carvings were sent including wooden characters from the Creature Comforts TV series, and a carving of a Commodore 64 computer keyboard.

Mr Metimbers then photographed the booty and photoshoped the images so that they appeared 'damaged'. This damage included a mysterious shrinking process and a gnawing from a rogue African hamster.

He ended his scam by sending the Nigerian conman an "official" police notification that his recent dealings with a person calling himself Derek Trotter were in fact with a notorious art forger and fraudster who has now been arrested.

More here, Jim, lad.
