PC shipments up by 14.4 per cent
Thu Oct 18 2007, 10:47

RESEARCH OUTFIT Gartner said that 68.5 million PCs shipped in Q3 of this year, a 14.4 per cent jump over the same period last year.

But while the APAC region increased by 23.4 per cent, and Europe by 16.4 per cent, the US shipments were feeble at only 4.7 per cent.

Gartner reckons the consumer market is responsible for the healthy growth, while mobile PCs continue to drive sales.

HP grew by 33.1 per cent compared to the same quarter last year, holding an 18.8 per cent market share. Acer also showed steep growth of 58 per cent, quarter on quarter and now has 8.1 per cent share.

Dell only grew by 3.5 per cent and has 14.4 market share worldwide. µ
