HP tells staff to shut up about AMD, Intel

Take a memo. Or rather, don't
Tuesday, 5 July 2005, 12:18
* CORRECTION It was HP's Ann Baskins, on the legal side, which sent the memo to staff.

HP'S ANN LIVERMORE, who is on AMD's subpoena list in its antitrust suit against Intel, has penned an e-missive to staff telling them to fermez their bouches.

She said in a memo that she's sure many HP people have seen news reports about the legal action, and said it's likely her firm will be approached by both Intel and AMD for info, for docs and for interviews as they "litigate their differences".

She says it is "critical" that HP employees don't talk to AMD, Intel or their lawyers about the lawsuit. If HP staff are approached, they should contact the internal Hewlett Packard lawyers tout suite.

Nor should HP staff generate any words about the case whether it be through e-missives, through "bogs" or using instant messenger and the like.

Such conversations might have to be disclosed, when AMD's day dawns in court.

The only people allowed to talk to the scum - that's us - are people in HP's Corporate Media Department.

In other words, Ann concludes, and in our words, keep your lips buttoned. ยต
