Nvidia wins Dell notebook deal

Coup for NviDiA
Fri Aug 03 2001, 11:42
IRRESPECTIVE OF the strategic Nvidia AMD partnership (SNAP), Dell will choose what it considers to be the best technology at the right price for its notebooks.

And now Nvidia has a considerable boost because Dell has chosen its 2GO platform for its C810 and Inspiron 8100 notebook PCs.

The machines include the 1.13GHz Pentium III-M, 128MB of synchronous memory, a 15-inch display and a choice of optical drives.

The deal is a considerable coup for Nvidia because, according to the firm, it is the first time its GeForce2GO is being used in notebooks aimed at business folk.

The Latitude and Inspiron notebooks account for roughly one third of the machines Dell sells in this sector.

And what about the AMD-Dell rumours? Those briefly re-surfaced a week or so back in the Robert Cringely column in Infoworld, but everything remains pretty quiet on that front. ยต
