Microsoft and HP let off the hook

Mobile technology case thrown out
Wed Aug 09 2006, 07:39
A PATENT CLAIM against software giant Microsoft and the maker of printer ink HP has been dismissed by a federal judge.

The case over Windows Mobile software and iPaq handhelds was filed by E-Pass Technologies which claimed that the pair had infringed its patent.

The patent described a particular method for storing and information from various credit cards in a single electronic multi-function card.

E-Pass filed the suit in February 2002 in US District Court for the Southern District of Texas. However last week the robed, but not wigged one, Judge Kenneth Hoyt ruled that there was no infringement.

A spokesVole told News.com that as "a company that respects the intellectual property of others we are pleased that Microsoft prevailed on its non-infringement claim". Eh?
