Jack Thompson disbarred
VOCAL OPPONENT of what he sees as violent gaming, lawyer Jack Thompson has been disbarred.
The Florida Supreme Court agreed that Thompson is generally a pain in what Americans usually refer to as the "ass".
The web site, Game Politics has posted the ruling in a pdf here.
In a month's time, pending an appeal, Thompson will not be allowed to represent anyone in court.
Along with disbarment, Thompson has been ordered to reimburse the Florida Bar fees amounting to $43,675.35.
Thompson has filed an emergency motion against disbarment but it is not clear what the court will think of this. Apparently he has to hire another lawyer to represent him to file such a motion.
His motion claims that the disbarment is in retaliation for his book Out of Harm's Way which he says blew the whistle on Florida Supreme Court's attack on his activism against the American entertainment industry.
He has filed a federal civil rights action against the Bar, the Supreme Court, and all seven of its Justices.

Thompson's disbarring partially restores my faith in the American justice system-- now all that's left is the disbarring of EVERY lawyer who's done "attack dog" work for the RIAA--

As the song says, "ding dong the witch is dead!!" Let church bells ring out across America! I call for a day of national celebration! The whack job is disbarred! 

Sadly, this just means the sociopath will be trying to contact any and every media outlet he can, trying to drum up sympathy, "poor me, how can they treat ME like this? I've done nothing wrong!"... aside from lie, backstab, intimdate, and abandon whatever morals he may have once had.... He's disbarred, but unfortunately, that doesn't mean he's going to go away.
Oh my god this is better than having violence and sex in games... No, not really...

He should release some of that stress by sitting down in front of a PC and playing some FPS games :p
