Leadtek downclocks its WinFast A170 Pro TH

It's caught in a 90MHz graphics card warp -- a Web space discontinuity

ONE OF OUR READERS tells us that he was rather upset when he realised that the card that he purchased recently is clocked 90MHz less than he saw on the company's web site.

Leadtek announced its WinFast cards ages ago, and its own web site claims that the memory on these cards -- based on the Geforce 4 MX 460 GPU -- works at a very respectable 550MHz.

However, when the guy got his card, he realised that it's clocked at the old 460MHz, 90 MHz less than he saw on the site. He performed his own inquiry, discovering that the only card that Leadtek advertises is the A179 PRO Th with MyVIVO that you can find just here -- it clearly states its memory clock frequency is 550MHz.

Our friend went one step forward and contacted Leadtek tech support at this email address and got rather an interesting reply.

"Yes, the memory clock set at 550MHZ was the Nvidia first open spec for this video card.but by following time passed and regard of marketing cost ,the spec will be fixed."

Leadtek, therefore, is aware that the information on its web site is not up to date but obviously hasn't had time to change it - who cares about 90MHz here or there - it's hardly important, is it?

It's what Einstein famously called the time-space continuum, as in there wasn't enough time to change the Web space.

We daresay that the anomalies in the continuum will be fixed soon enough ... ยต
