THOSE NAUGHTY FRENCHMEN, over at x86-secret.com have posted the first review of Intel's 3.06GHz Pentium 4 over here. NDA, they say. "Qu'est-ce c'est?" Here's a Googled translation fo their fine effort.

Too bad, says one reader, that the 3.06 is bad at encoding divx with hyperthreading enabled, which he learned at 2CPU.com over here. At least, he says, the prices are coming down, pointing at the beaming Sandra over here.

You might consider sticking your P4 in this P4HT mobo, given the once-over by lostcircuits.com. It can compete with the best, they reckon.

Meanwhile, X-Bit Labs seeks to find out what difference using a different processor makes to your graphics performance. The investigation, they say, involves trying out an ATI RADEON 9700 PRO in Intel Pentium 4 and AMD Athlon XP-based systems of different levels. The reference point is a GeForce4 Ti4600 based reference card from NVIDIA and the ATI RADEON 9700 PRO will be represented by FIC 1stGraphics AT010. Wibble this way.

They also have a wander through the 10-year history of a company called Rambus, over here. Too significant to be ignored but, at the same time, too complex to be comprehended at large, they say.

And here's here' s how to operate file level security in Windows NT and 2000/XP courtesy of ViperlLair.

I Am Not A Geek takes a look at the Lian-Li PC-6087 Aluminum Case over here.

Here's how to mod a cheapo case from Aselabs.

OCAddiction is checking out the AquaXtreme-XP AMD Socket A Water-Cooling Kit by CoolTechnica over here.

But Monster Hardware has the link of the day with their PC case made out of Lego, over here.

You can nail the Wibbler here. µ

Do you think the move was justified?
