Toshiba shows off HD DVD player

Consumer Electronics Show 2006 Ready for home rock and role

IN PRE show time we managed to get a quick picture of one of the first HD DVD players but we just could not ask any questions.

It looks thick to us but so did the first DVD players. This device should probably see the light of the consumer shelves sometimes in summer time but we will try to learn more. Its called HD XA1 and it has support for HD content up to 1080I trough HDMI and can also scale down to 720P and 1080P. It plays conventional old DVD's.

As you can see it has lot of connectors at the back including multi channel decoder with 5.1 out. Its funny that this player actually has RS 232 port and an Ethernet port. Here is what it looks like.
