HP ZX 6000 workstation not available until September
Thu Aug 01 2002, 10:43
THERE'S A SET OF benchmarks for the HP ZX6000 workstation up now on the specbench.org site.

The benchmarks test a 1GHz Itanium II workstation, running Linux 64 Debian 3.0 with 2.4.18 kernet, and using the Intel C++ and Fortran Compiler 6.0.1 for Linux.

Well, it's not quite that simple, unfortunately. Linux and Intel compilers were only used for SpecFP, and HP/UX and HP compilers were used for SpecINT because they're supposed to give 20 to 25 per cent better performance.

The Linux SpecINT may well be in the 650-700 range, which presumably is why HP didn't submit that one, according to sources.

The system uses a one processor configuration, with 3MB of level three cache and 6GB of memory.

According to the marks, the hardware and software won't be available until next month, September.

And here's where you can view the results and the full specification of the system tested for yourself. ยต
