GOOGLE'S RIVALS are not being helpful to the search engine outfit which is having a few problems with copyright infringement.

According to Associated Press, Google was hoping that it could fight off a court case from a group of publishers and the Authors' Guild for putting copies of books on the net.

It wanted to show in court how its rivals had managed to get around copyright law and subpoenaed Amazon, Yahoo and Microsoft.

However the three have said that they are not telling Google how they do it and have told the outfit to go forth and multiply.

Yahoo and Microsoft are part of a large alliance of businesses and libraries working together to create a digital database of books. Amazon.com scanned excerpts from books that they may want to buy.

Yahoo said that Google's request was a brazen attempt to nose into its trade secrets. More here. µ
