AFTER READING OUR stories about ATi's upcoming FireGL series, readers asked us about the time of delivery for FireGL boards, and several companies doubted that AMD can perform what the company stated.

AMD has come forward and informed the channel that the company will ship FireGL V3600 and V5600 during September, most probably last week. When it comes to R630 (aka 256-bit R600) and R600 based boards, the FireGL V7600 will be in distribution in October, V8600 and V8650 will follow suit.

DAAMIT probably wants to certify all applications supported by the drivers and improve them by a bit, and then, with drivers being (loosely based on Catalyst series) ready to go - FireGL series will come to life.

We expect that marketing strategy for both main players in professional 3D market will be "all out attack", so be warned. October will be a battlefield in professional graphics. µ
