Best Buy Benqs on LCD TVs

Price drops ahead
Tue Jun 14 2005, 09:37
A REPORT in today's Taiwan Economic News claims that US superstore Best Buy will re-sell large LCDs made by Benq.

According to the reporter, 32-inch LCD TVs will sell at $1,000 by year end - a sharp drop from the current $1,500 people are paying right now.

Benq - pronounced benk - will produce LCD TVs for Best Buy but without its familiar marque. The TVs will be branded as Best Buy TVs.

The report claims that four per cent of Best Buy's sales are made up of units put together by Taiwanese original design manufacturers (ODMs).

Last year Benq spent unknown amounts of money branding itself with a soccer theme. ยต
