Dealers up in arms over Intel Conroe allocation

It will all end in tiers

SYSTEM INTEGRATORS are incandescent with fury because even though they ordered Core Dual 2 chips from distributors weeks ago, they're being told they'll have to join a queue while Dell and HP get the pick of the crop.

One reseller told the INQ he'd been pestering distie Synnex for shipments but was told he'd just have to wait. He said: "We were told the CPUs are reserved for tier one customers like Dell, HP, Alienware and Falcon."

He claimed Intel has told Synnex and other distributors that they were not allowed to sell CPUs to anyone except customer designated by Chipzilla until August 7th, at the earliest.

Prices on the newer CPUs from Intel have also risen, he alleged.

Last week AMD alleged the notion Intel would give channel partners the same pricing as its tier one customers was a "fairy tale".

Intel was unavailable for comment at press time. µ
