Sun opens Niagara 2 to all

Free RTL for all to play with
Sunday, 12 August 2007, 17:13
SUN IS CONTINUING it's move to open source its CPUs, something that is unique among the major CPU vendors.

A while ago it put out the RTL for Niagara, and now it is Niagara 2's turn.

For now, you have to be a member of the beta programme, but soon the code will be open for all to tinker with.

If you can hold off for a little bit longer, it will be available here when the beta ends. From that point, all you need is a $4 billion 65 nanometre fab and you can make your own Niagara 2s saving yourself thousands of dollars. µ
