The worm, given the name "VBS_SLIP.B," spreads through Microsoft Outlook, the company said yesterday.
Emails containing the worm are headed "Actualizacion critica de Anti-virus." Reading the text in Outlook's preview window won't activate the virus, but running the attachment will send the virus on to all the addresses in Outlook's address book and opens up WordPad continuously until the host computer crashes.
Trend says the virus also deletes some Windows system files.
Here's the report. ยต
Early in 2007 my Word Pad program disappeared from the start list of program's.I have since dug into everything I can safely deal with in some administrative tool's.Simple result during search,--"program not found" is the system reply.Fortunately, the file's I had in text all exist with the word pad text icon indicating their presence. It is possible I may have lost one or two of ten or so anyway.I had too much to remember to know whether I found all of them. So,consider this as another notice on the existance of a real virus.I just found your site and the word pad item you have today.I notice one registry cleaner seem's clearly improperly connected to word pad. Also, any WP acronym may be considered as a possible "blanking link" as I might describe it.
