Geforce 6 Go 6600 and Alviso benchmarked

IDF 2004 from Germany with love

WE'RE TOLD that a Dothan 1.87 GHz (750J) machine with the Intel Alviso chipset with Geforce 6 Go 6600 can score 33.7 FPS in Doom 3. Of course we are talking about 1027x768 High detail settings and Nvidia recommended 8XAF as it can double its pipelines with using 8X AF and no FSAA.

You can check the details here and there are even some pictures of how this chip/card looks.

The German site noted that under same conditions, Mobility Radeon 9700 with 1.7 GHz Banias CPU will give only 19.7 FPS. Ouch!

If you are into the Centrino platform but would like to see how next generation PCI-E Alviso chipset scores you should take a look at this page.

This new chipset will score 2924 MB/s in Sandra benchmark using 533 MHZ DDR 2 memory. They got this score from the Dothan 2.0 GHz FSO 533, also known as 760J.

Well this can certainly give us some kind of clue what is going to happen in the first quarter of 2005 when Intel releases Alviso and when Nvidia decides to introduce the NV43, Geforce 6 Go 6600 chip. I guess Nvidia depends on design wins as this is not exactly a retail product.

The mobile future has DDR-2 and PCI Express scribbled all over it. ยต
