I wrote a story on microprocessors once. Paper would have been better - The Evil Dr Spinola
MICROSOFT HAS STARTED showing off its new IE6 for Windows Mobile at various events.
News.com got its paws on one and said it is not bad, even if it is not quite ready to ship yet.
The biggest benefit is the full IE 6 rendering engine, meaning that any page that renders properly in IE 6 on the PC should do just fine on Windows Mobile. It will manage Flash support too.
So far there is no indication how the beast will run on a touch screen, but CNet seems to think it would be a bit tricky to make it as good as the Iphone.
IE6 for Windows Mobile also has the option of opening traditional cut-down pages to save on data loading in areas where bandwidth is capped.
The browser is expected to be out later this year, probably around Christmas time, although Vole is not saying exactly when.
Unfortunately, the IE6 for Windows Mobile still seems to be behind Apple's mobile browsing experience. Better than what it used to be and might save developers from having to go to Opera's Windows Mobile browsing, which offers better navigation and rendering than the current version of IE Mobile. ยต

For vole's infection exploder on your handset? Switched to Opera and won't go back. Even if it was for navigation and data load.
opera freezes my entire system if i dare press the screen power button while it is infested in my RAM. then i get about 5 page loads before i freeze and need to reboot anyway.

point: opera is cool but i can't run it, so for the next year im stuck with this
At least one web site I use has recently decided that out of date Web browsers will not be supported - including Internet Explorer 6. Could be a hoax though.
