Ingram Micro turns in $8.25 billion smackers

Quarter back
Fri Apr 27 2007, 11:41
MEGA DISTRIBUTOR Ingram Micro said it sold $8.25 billion's worth of kit in its first financial quarter, with net income amounting to $37 million.

That, said the firm, is a nine per cent increase over the same quarter last year with the strength of European currencies having a three point positive effect on this figure.

Here's how the different regions performed. North American sales amounted to $3.28 billion. European sales were $3.05 billion. APAC sales were $1.57 billion. Latin American sales were $346 million - down three per cent on the same quarter last year and blamed by Ingram on Brazilian commercial taxes.

Ingram's gross margin on the $8.25 billion was 4.96 per cent which would be highly alarming for any other sort of company but isn't bad for a distie. µ
