FTC files appeal against itself over Rambus

Judge overruled, here comes the judge
Fri Mar 05 2004, 07:10
THE FEDERAL Trade Commission has decided to appeal against the decision of one of its own judges who rejected an antitrust case against Rambus.

That throws even more uncertainty into the future, as such a case would be heard by the competition wing of the office, probably in midsummer, or possibly a little earlier.

A judge had found that Rambus was not guilty of deceiving JEDEC, a memory standards body, in a case which must have cost US taxpayers an arm and a leg.

Looks like the taxpayer will have to pay an additional limb or two before the whole thing's settled.

And yes, the share price of RMBS started to decline as news of the FTC overruling the FTC spread. ยต
