Russian solider raps his way to Siberia
Thursday, 2 October 2008, 14:48

VIDEO FOOTAGE of a Russian soldier going about his daily business in his less-than-acceptable barracks has done the trick of catching the attention of the Ruskie military's top brass.

Lieutenant Vitaly Efremov decided to take time out from his duties to produce a video complaining about his living quarters in the style of Eminem’s Stan.

Instead of the letter being sent from a disgruntled fan, Efremov sends this video out to the Defence Minister Anatoly Serdyakov.

Although quite amusing, this air-time does actually display the rotten living conditions the lieutenant is complaining about – the viewer witnesses peeling wallpaper, an out-of-control tap, an unpredictable shower, broken equipment – basically all round gloomy and depressing living conditions.

The clip was posted online on Russia’s equivalent of Youtube, Rutube where the soldier received many comments – most of which labeled him as a whiner.

This may be true, but on the other hand this issue is at the heart of the Armed Forces – many want the leadership to get moving in modernising the military.

After posting the clip the Lieutenant was re-posted to Siberia which will make him even more unhappy as he will now not be able to afford to fly home to St Petersburg to see his family.

In the words of one of the soldiers online, "Belt up, lieutenant!". µ

VIdeo Dead !

Seems the Russian censors have quickly marched over to RuTube and stuck one of their jack boots in and the video is no longer available.

Thank goodness the Times has a copy

It's gone now from RuTube! No sense of humor....

I wonder if publicity will bring him back, or push him further into Siberia.
