HP four way 2.4GHz Opteron server en route

A REPORT FILED by Hewlett Packard on the Transaction Processing Performance Council site claims that machines based on AMD Opterons pip the opposition.

Top of the league table, by submission, anyway is a four way ProLiant DL585 system which according to the listing uses four Opteron 2.4GHz chips.

But a system based on four Opteron 2.2GHz processors also performs well, according to the figures.

The first system delivers 123,027 tpmC marks at $3.50 bangs to the tpmC, while the second one has a score of 106,687, delivering $3.23 price/tmpC.

Both systems use SQL Server 2000 Enterprise Edition running on Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition.

The availability date of the first system is listed as 31st of October 2004, while the 2.2GHz Opteron ProLiant system is already available. µ
