10x10 attempts news based RSS feed

Text thrashing
Wed Nov 10 2004, 14:01
A WEB SITE is attempting an interesting experiment in news aggregation using RSS feeds.

The site, 10x10, parses Reuters, the BBC and the New York Times so far, and performs what the author describes as an elaborate process of weighted linguistic analysis on the text.

It then makes automatic conclusions based on the hour's important words and are linked with appropriate pictures from the web site.

The site is here. The same software developer has a site which selects the most used English words, and that can be found here. You won't be surprised to learn that the number one word is "the". But you'll probably be pleased that one of the INQ's most hated words - "innovative", is way down the list. ยต
