Ozzie lifts lid on "software plus"

Plus or minus a bit
Monday, 30 July 2007, 20:59
TOP VOLE, Ray Ozzie has outlined his glorious five year plan for "software plus".

Having a word with financial analysts, Ozzie used lots of Volish works like "services transformation" and said it was a very big deal for Microsoft.

Ozzie admitted that Microsoft has had trouble "articulating its software plus service vision" but it now managed to clearly describe how it will make it happen.

He said Vole was "feverishly" building a hardware and software platform that will support its "services vision" across every one of its software products. We would have thought developers would work better without fevers, but Ozzie seems to think it helps the visions. Ozzie said that the service would make it easier for users to access the same software different hardware or buy new gear without having to create new settings.

Office customers might use hosted services, such as publishing, sharing and editing, he added.

Ozzie, still with his fever, is concentrating on building this services framework. In 18 months he will begin introducing new and key components of the platform. According to PC World, the Vole has been splashing out on some seriously large data centres and the networks that connect them to the Internet and even plans to build some more to handle Ozzie's vision. ยต
