Silver threatened as loose Canon dumps film

Every camera doesn't have a silver lining

CANON is going to abandon single reflex cameras (SLRs) as digital cameras kick in, said the Wall Street Journal.

This could be even worse news for the silver industry, because Kodak Eastman used to soak up loads of silver in rolls of film.

The WSJ claimed Canon won't withdraw prematurely from the SLR market because it wants to assess demand.

Snappers we have talked to are undecided about the future of celluloid. Some appear to believe that rather like the argument between soundsters on vinyl versus digital, the jury is still out. µ

* IN OTHER news, gold futures went higher. Google (tick: GOOG) fell by over $5.
