Fri Apr 20 2007, 11:33
BRITISH TELECOM HAS announced its intention to buy up South American comms firm Comsat International, which it reckons is worth around $145 million.

The telco reckons the acquisition strengthens its global reach down under. Comsat has a foot in 15 countries where it says it has focused on corporate and government customers.

In a statement, François Barrault, President BT International, said the acquisition was part of BT's master plan of well targeted acquisitions around the world.

"This acquisition significantly enhances BT's position in the increasingly important Latin American market. It also underlines our commitment to providing world class services to our customers wherever they do business," he trumpeted. µ
